Monitoring
Patients should be evaluated 3-7 days after the completion of antibiotic treatment to verify symptomatic improvement.[55] Pain usually resolves within 3 days, and ulcer healing usually takes 1-2 weeks. Resolution of fluctuant lymphadenitis (buboes) may take longer. Repeated needle aspiration or incision and drainage of the affected lymph node may be required.[76] If the tests for HIV and syphilis at the time of the diagnosis are negative, testing should be repeated 3 months later.[2][55][70]
