Monitoring
Wrinkles are a progressive aesthetic condition, and therefore, regular observational follow-up for untreated wrinkles is not required. If wrinkles are treated, follow-up is indicated according to the protocol of the specific therapy undertaken.
Superficial chemical peels should be repeated in a series of 3 to 5 chemical peels at monthly intervals, with the maximum treatment effect lasting between 6 and 12 months. Medium-depth and deep-thickness peels are usually not repeated as a series.
Botulinum toxin effects can persist for 3 to 6 months, after which treatment has to be repeated.
Biodegradable injectable fillers provide soft-tissue augmentation for variable periods of 3 to 18 months.
Dermabrasion and laser ablation results continue to improve for up to 18 months as collagen remodelling takes place.
Fat is a permanent autologous filler offering long-lasting results and annual follow-up is recommended.
Rhytidectomy can last for up to 15 years and annual follow-up is recommended.
