Monitoring

During the acute phase all patients require cardiac monitoring. Once stabilized, they can be transferred to a noncardiac monitoring floor.

After discharge, a telephone follow-up is recommended within 3 days and patients should be reviewed in the clinic within 7 to 10 days.[32]

Once the acute phase is over and patients are stable and considered to have stable heart failure, they should be encouraged to do regular aerobic exercise, and it is recommended that they be enrolled in a multidisciplinary care management program.[1]
