There are no specific instructions to the patient other than a general admonition to report any untoward neurological symptoms to the physician immediately. Aggressive physiotherapy/rehabilitation is important to maximise the functional recovery in debilitated patients and patients should be encouraged to employ this modality to the greatest extent possible to their circumstances. Very young patients may need ongoing cognitive and speech therapy for an indefinite period of time into the future, and parents should make every attempt to accommodate this treatment.
