Primary prevention
Because hepatitis B is a risk factor for developing cryoglobulinemia, immunization to prevent infection and thus sequelae of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection may play a role in primary prevention.

Secondary prevention
In patients with active viral disease (hepatitis C virus, HBV, HIV), precautions should be taken to avoid dissemination of these infections.
