Adenocarcinoma of unknown primary site

The lack of known risk factors for adenocarcinoma of unknown primary site (AUP) has limited the development of primary preventive strategies. Given the presence of metastatic disease at diagnosis, early detection of AUP is not possible.

Patients should be encouraged to get routine vaccination, including influenza and pneumovax, although live virus vaccines should be avoided in patients undergoing chemotherapy.
