Although there are no formal guidelines on the long-term monitoring of patients with LSC, as these patients are often managed with potent topical corticosteroids, they should be followed up within 1 month of commencing such treatment to monitor for adverse effects and to provide support and encouragement. It is important that the patient not be given unlimited refills for any prescription of potent topical corticosteroids to avoid the development of adverse effects with unsupervised use.
