Prognosis
Most patients with popliteal cysts have an excellent prognosis and rarely have any long-term disability. Most cysts regress over time but may re-form if underlying knee pathology is not resolved. Patients who fail conservative treatment and undergo aspiration or surgical repair have a significant incidence of recurrence.[29]
