Patient discussions
Patients must be informed of the length of time necessary for normal pigmentation to return after successful treatment (up to 6 weeks and sometimes longer in hypopigmented lesions). In addition, inform patients that PV has a high recurrence rate and may require prophylactic treatment to successfully manage. Encourage patients to return for a follow-up visit to discuss prophylactic therapy if their condition recurs.
