Epidemiology
Sinus node dysfunction occurs in 1 in 600 patients per year over the age of 65 years.[12] The incidence of symptomatic atrioventricular block is probably as common. There are no good epidemiological data, and the incidence and prevalence of bradycardia is unknown; however, in clinical practice, it may occur in both sexes equally and is more common in older people. There are no known data on global differences. The percentage of patients who require therapy is not completely certain.
