Patients should frequently wash their hands after treatment with radioactive iodine. They should avoid close contact with other people, especially children and pregnant women. These precautions should last for a few days, although evidence is lacking regarding duration.[45]
Patients taking antithyroid drugs should immediately report fever, rash, sore throat or any other symptoms of infection.
