Epidemiology
TSC can be identified in all ethnic groups and is equally identified in both sexes.
Studies have estimated a population prevalence of around 1.0 to 1.6 in 20,000.[9][10][11] Although TSC is an autosomal-dominant inherited disorder, up to 65% to 75% of people with TSC have spontaneous mutations as the underlying genetic cause.[4]
An estimated 40,000 Americans and at least 2 million people worldwide have TSC.[3]
