Monitoring
No specific monitoring for most patients with CPP arthritis is warranted. However, they should be monitored regularly for adverse effects of medicines. If treatment requires therapy with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or colchicine, a full blood count and basic chemistry should be obtained every 3-6 months depending on the patient's age, general health, and baseline laboratory values. Patients treated with systemic corticosteroids should be monitored for adverse effects, such as hyperglycaemia or osteoporosis. See Osteoporosis (Prevention).
