Monitoring

As there is no cure for rosacea, follow-up and monitoring are often indefinite and on an as-needed basis.

Many of those with mild forms of the condition who respond well to topical or oral treatments can be seen once a year or every other year for medicine refills, with no significant worsening of their symptoms. Those who are more severely affected require more frequent monitoring, sometimes monthly, for adjustments to treatment regimens. These patients may require multiple topical and systemic treatments, and may undergo regular surgical procedures for ablation of more severe phymatous disease.

Full blood count, lipid panel, and liver function tests are monitored regularly in all patients taking isotretinoin. Women also require monthly pregnancy tests to continue treatment with isotretinoin.
