Potassium azeloyl diglycinate and hydroxypropyl chitosan

In one small placebo-controlled, randomised, parallel-group study (42 adults with stage I and II rosacea), topical potassium azeloyl diglycinate and hydroxypropyl chitosan cream used twice daily for 28 days reduced erythema, burning, stinging, and flushing with no reported adverse events.[56] A subsequent small open-label trial (37 adults with erythematotelangiectatic rosacea) found that topical potassium azeloyl diglycinate and hydroxypropyl chitosan cream used for 12 weeks reduced stinging and burning sensation with no adverse events. Erythema was not reported. The authors suggested that reduction in stinging and burning sensation increased over time with only mild improvement seen after 4 weeks.[57] Further studies are needed to corroborate these findings.[56]
