Discuss the following with the patient:
The recommended duration of antibiotic treatment, including the reasons for this, and the associated monitoring schedule
For those having surgery, prognosis and possible complications
Patients should report any fever or new neurologic symptoms to the physician immediately. Explain why this is important.
