Monitoring
Patients treated effectively for leptospirosis, particularly with mild disease, are more likely to have an uneventful recovery. However, a small group of patients, such as those with a certain degree of immunosuppression, or older patients, may suffer long-term complications, such as chronic fatigue, uveitis, or psychiatric disturbances. It is generally recommended that after disease recovery, clinicians evaluate patients for the aforementioned potential complications as well as assess renal function in patients who had renal impairment during the acute infectious process. For patients who presented with manifestations of cardiac irritability, cardiac monitoring is also recommended.
