Monitoring
All infants with feeding disorders will require regular pediatric follow-up appointments to assess symptom control, weight, and linear growth.
A trial without medication is suggested for infants with GERD and normal neurodevelopment when they reach 1 year of age.
Dietary challenge with cows’ milk can be attempted from 1 year of age, although a small number of children may remain intolerant until 2 to 3 years of age.
Many genetic, neurologic, neurodevelopmental, and neuromuscular disorders have feeding challenges that will evolve with time and will require long-term follow-up by multidisciplinary teams and regular assessment of nutritional status.
