Monitoring

Recommendations for monitoring of patients with MNM vary with the underlying etiology. Systemic vasculitides are aggressive diseases with significant morbidity and mortality, and require long-term multispecialty care to ensure optimal treatment. Monitoring for renal, cardiac, and pulmonary function is important in disorders that affect these systems. Long-term monitoring is also necessary for patients with nonsystemic vasculitic neuropathy, as relapse occurs in around 30% of patients treated; the relapse rate among patients who respond to therapy is likely to be higher.[23][74]

Monitoring for adverse effects of treatment is required. For example, patients on certain immunosuppressants may require regular monitoring of complete blood count, blood glucose, serum electrolytes, renal function, and liver function. Consult your local drug formulary for more detailed information for specific drugs.
