Monitoring
Most simple corneal abrasions, especially those in people who do not wear contact lenses, and that do not involve the visual axis, may be treated without follow-up if the patient is symptom-free in 1 or 2 days. Larger abrasions, those that involve the visual axis, and those related to contact lens use are at greater risk for complications and should have ophthalmologic follow-up in 1-2 days.
