Monitoring
No specific monitoring for most patients with CPP arthritis is warranted. However, they should be monitored regularly for adverse effects of medications. If treatment requires therapy with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or colchicine, a complete blood count and basic chemistry should be obtained every 3-6 months depending on the patient's age, general health, and baseline laboratory values. Patients treated with systemic corticosteroids should be monitored for adverse effects, such as hyperglycemia or osteoporosis. See Osteoporosis (Prevention).
