Patients who have a procedure that may insert air into the cavity surrounding their lung (thoracentesis, thoracoscopy, or tube thoracostomy) should be advised to avoid high altitudes, scuba diving, or flying in unpressurized aircraft until they are cleared by their physician.[123]
