Herpes zoster infection

Patients who still have new lesions forming and those who develop neurologic, ocular, motor, and cutaneous complications after treatment with a 7-day course of antiviral drugs should be closely monitored to assess the need for treatment extension. Treatment for the complications might be necessary as well. Patients with ocular complications should be referred immediately to an ophthalmologist.
