Secondary prevention
Adherence to treatment is imperative. Nonadherence to the medication regimen may lead to relapse. The earlier the symptoms are treated, the less likely they are to recur. A practitioner should be notified immediately on symptom recurrence.
The following may help decrease symptoms and/or prevent relapse:
Stress management techniques such as yoga, deep breathing, meditation, or other relaxation techniques.[41]
Avoidance of alcohol and caffeine, as use of these is correlated with an increase in stress.
Getting adequate physical activity, as exercise can decrease stress, lower blood pressure, and improve general health.[42]
