Monitoring
Little follow-up is needed once phimosis is successfully treated by circumcision or paraphimosis by manual reduction. However, uncircumcised males continue to be at risk for paraphimosis.
Appropriate counseling regarding care of the uncircumcised penis and vigilance to reduce iatrogenic paraphimosis is appropriate.
Patients who undergo repair of hypospadias are typically followed at routine postoperative intervals through toilet training and puberty.
Concealed penis is managed by observation (in young children), and follow-up is expectant with likely spontaneous resolution. Referral to a urologist may be necessary in cases of persistent concealed penis in children older than 3 years of age (after toilet training) or in younger infants with scant penile shaft skin and significant penoscrotal webbing.
