Secondary prevention
Monitor respiratory status, pulmonary function test and treatment efficacy via routine follow-up evaluations with a physician. If a patient is receiving long-term oral corticosteroids, screening for corticosteroid adverse effects of osteoporosis/osteopenia (by bone density measurement) and cataracts (by regular eye exams) is advisable. Teach sputum clearance techniques to patients with bronchiectasis. Influenza and pneumococcal immunisations are recommended.
