Patient discussions
Parents should observe the infant for evidence of GORD such as frequent vomiting, persistent cough, gas, or colic (frequent crying or increased agitation). Also, parents should look for aspiration or feeding intolerance. Parents should be instructed on resuscitation techniques before the infant is discharged from the hospital. If the infant is having trouble with feeds or secretions, or seems to have increased breathing effort, medical care should be sought. Because of the oesophageal dysmotility, children may have poor feeding.[51]
