Patients and families/carers should be provided with information about treatment options, possible effects of the tumour and treatments (e.g., behavioural and communication problems), and prognosis. Postoperatively, patients and parents/carers should be advised to look for back pain which worsens at night, and for all of the signs and symptoms of the original presentation.
