It is important for parents to be aware that the eruption of erythema infectiosum lasts for 1 to 3 weeks and it may persist for longer. The generalised exanthem may intensify with increased body temperature, but this does not reflect the recrudescence of the disease.[2] As in any viral illness, maintaining hydration and appropriate rest is indicated.[37]
