Primary prevention
Appropriate and timely treatment of intra-abdominal infections can prevent the complications of liver abscess. Antibiotic prophylaxis for chemoembolisation and, in selected cases, at endoscopic retrograde cholangiography can be used as a primary preventative strategy.[27]
