Epidemiology

Miliaria is seen in all age groups and sexes worldwide.[3] Miliaria profunda is seen mostly in adults while miliaria crystallina and miliaria rubra occur in both children and adults.[1] Miliaria crystallina occurs in 1.3% to 4.5% of infants and congenital cases have been described.[3][5][6][7][8] It has also been reported in intensive care patients due to medication use.[9][10] Miliaria rubra affects between 4% and 9% of neonates.[5][11] Miliaria crystallina and rubra occur globally while miliaria profunda is usually only seen in tropical environments.[1]
