Screening

Currently there are no screening guidelines or available screening tests for the asymptomatic population. As this is an underdiagnosed condition, some experts recommend that patients undergoing a routine dermatological or gynaecological examination should be evaluated for early signs of lichen sclerosus. This screening can be performed by observation of the vulvar skin as part of a routine clinical examination, with no additional risks to the patient.[13]
