Secondary prevention
The term 'syndrome' encompasses the negative emotional, cognitive, behavioural, sexual, and functional consequences of primary prostate pain syndrome (PPPS) and the need for a holistic approach to patient management with multidisciplinary input. Clinically, phenotyping men with PPPS (by describing the condition in terms of its symptoms, signs, and investigation results) standardises patient assessment and promotes goal-directed treatment of each affected domain. This encourages multimodal therapy and is therefore associated with higher chance of treatment success.
