However, negative stool cultures are required prior to return to work or group social activities in some settings.[40]​ For example, for food handlers, healthcare workers, or in childcare settings following Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (e.g., O157:H7), Salmonella, or Shigella infection. Specific requirements vary; local public health policies should be sought and followed.
