Prognosis

Almost all patients fully recover from Campylobacter enteritis, either spontaneously or after antimicrobial therapy. Few deaths have been reported; most of these were due to volume depletion and electrolyte abnormalities in the setting of dehydration. The estimated mortality from symptomatic infection in the US is 0.4%.[7] The mortality is higher in patients with other severe illnesses.
