Complications
Reactive arthritis presents 1 to 3 weeks after yersiniosis and usually affects joints in the lower limbs. It is more common in adult patients who are HLA-B27 genotype-positive. Antibiotics have not been shown to alter the likelihood of post-infectious sequelae, such as reactive arthritis.[49]
Erythaema nodosum after yersiniosis is an immunological complication that seems to be more common in adult women.
May occur in the extremities as a late complication of septicaemic plague.[Figure caption and citation for the preceding image starts]: Gangrene of the right foot causing necrosis of the toesFrom the image collection of the CDC; used with permission [Citation ends].[Figure caption and citation for the preceding image starts]: Digital gangreneFrom the image collection of the CDC; used with permission [Citation ends].
