Screening

A pre-participation physical examination may include a genitourinary examination and history to detect hernias and/or testicular masses and to educate adolescent boys about seeking evaluation for severe testicular pain or masses felt on self-examination.

One study found that early screening and treatment for varicocele in pubertal boys without symptoms does not appear to influence the likelihood of paternity in later life.[44][45]
