Sialadenitis

The importance of adherence to antibiotic therapy should be emphasised. Patients with chronic sialadenitis should be advised to pay particular attention to oral hygiene, to prevent dental complications and ensure adequate hydration. Medications that may exacerbate sialadenitis may be changed or stopped if possible. As an adjunct to analgesia, some patients find that the topical application of ice cubes provides some relief.
