Monitoring

The clinician should follow up all detected complications until they have resolved. Referral to a specialist is necessary. The clinician should continue to question the patient during follow-up visits to elicit behaviors that may suggest a return to abuse.

Encouragement and supportive counseling, without prescribing an anabolic-androgenic steroid or routine medical monitoring (in the absence of medical problems), is appropriate.[11][19] Concerns exist that health checks that indicate no serious harm may precipitate continued AAS use.[11]
