Night blindness

Patients with retinitis pigmentosa need regular follow-up to monitor deterioration in vision and the development of associated problems (e.g., cataract, retinal swelling).

Patients with vitamin A deficiency need to have their serum level of vitamin A measured and monitored once treatment is commenced. Patients with malabsorption need monitoring to ensure resolution of symptoms. All patients should have regular eye tests and assessments for magnifiers.
