Epidemiology
WAS is an X-linked disorder, and therefore primarily affects males. Incidence in the US is estimated at 4 per million live male births.[8] In Europe incidence is 4 per million individuals, with no known ethnic or geographical predominance.[9] The condition may be underreported, as mild cases may be misdiagnosed as idiopathic thrombocytopenia.
