Monitoring
The eosinophil count is checked 4 to 6 months after therapy. Persistence of eosinophilia beyond 6 months should be considered treatment failure, with retreatment initiated.[54][33][55]
Follow-up stool ova and parasite exams verify eradication of strongyloides at 3 and 6 months in people who have required prolonged treatment courses because of resistance to initial therapy. Serology is also repeated.[50] Less than 40% decrease in quantitative serology after 6 months, or an increase in titer, prompts retreatment.[52]
