Patient discussions
Children ingesting acetaminophen products requiring treatment with acetylcysteine should be cautioned to avoid any product containing acetaminophen or ethanol for 2 to 4 weeks after discharge from the hospital. Children treated for cholinesterase inhibitor poisoning (organophosphates) should be cautioned to avoid any form of nonemergency surgery for 6 to 12 weeks.
