Monitoring
After surgical resection with curative intent, patients should have plasma vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) levels checked periodically to assess for tumor recurrence or metastasis. Rising VIP levels or recurrence of symptoms warrants further imaging workup to identify the source of recurrent disease. Imaging studies as clinically indicated.[3]
Patients managed with medical treatment require regular follow up along with careful fluid and electrolyte management.
