Monitoring

Follow-up is aimed at monitoring the natural history of the disease and evolution of femoral head deformity, with a view to intervening at an appropriate time.

Clinical evaluation comprises assessment of hip pain and measurement of the range of movement of both hips.

Radiographic assessment involves assessment of anteroposterior and frog lateral views of both hips to monitor progress.

Radiographic and clinical assessments are performed during growth spurts and acute painful episodes and are also indicated at regular intervals depending on the stage of the disease.
