Patient discussions

Patients and families/caregivers should be provided with information about treatment options, possible effects of the tumor and treatments (e.g., behavioral and communication problems), and prognosis. This needs to be done in a sensitive manner, bearing in mind that different patients/families/caregivers will differ in how much information they want and when they want it.[92][93]

Postoperatively, patients and parents/caregivers should be advised to look for back pain which worsens at night, and for all of the signs and symptoms of the original presentation.
