Screening

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that all children are screened for developmental delay during regular office visits at 9, 18, and 30 months.[20][104] The majority of movement delays will be evident by the time a child reaches 30 months.[105]

Developmental concerns elicited at any visit should be followed by standardized developmental screening testing or direct referral to specialty medical care.[20][104]

Children with risk factors for development of CP

Serial follow-up exams of all newborns from neonatal intensive care starting at age 3 months (corrected age) are warranted until it is evident that there is no failure in developmental milestones or development of spasticity.[20]
