This is a highly controversial issue. Psychiatric disturbances and somatic symptom disorders have been invoked to explain CRPS symptoms. The consensus is that any psychological disturbance is secondary to the suffering that CRPS causes and there are no behavioral risk factors. Pain psychologists and psychiatrists can advise.

Depression in adults

Trophic skin changes and bullae may be present, due to vasomotor disturbance. Skin lesions may become infected, but this can be prevented by good skin care.
