Primary prevention

Because tendinopathy is mainly an overuse disorder, care should be taken to use proper equipment and to limit repetitive motions at work and in sport. For example, appropriate footwear should be worn for running. Adequate stretching and gradual build-up of activities should be undertaken, with appropriate rest periods.

Secondary prevention

Patients should be encouraged to advance activities gradually to avoid overuse injuries. Appropriate attention is needed to prevent overtraining and appropriate equipment should be used.
