Primary prevention

Regular stretching, including before and after exercise, has been found to be of benefit in the primary prevention of the condition.[1][2]​ Although increased BMI has been found to be associated with plantar fasciitis, no studies have evaluated the effect of weight loss on occurrence of symptoms.[18]

Secondary prevention

In addition to being a treatment for plantar fasciitis, stretching is recommended for secondary (as well as primary) prevention.
